Life Coaching in Sacramento, CA

Welcome!  I'm Jacqueline Marie, but you can call me "Jack."  I'm glad you found my website, and I look forward to meeting you.  My passion as a life coach is helping teens and young adults break through barriers in their life.  I've had many mentors and counselors on my journey, and I've experienced the value of their input in my life.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, and a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology.  I've also completed several thousand hours of practice in various roles of counseling, coaching, and case management, and have worked with clients in all areas of life - those with addiction, autism, ADHD, issues in parenting and family dynamics, college readiness, career development, and others.  Along the way, I developed a heart and passion for young people and truly enjoy helping them on their journey.

My passion for youth comes from the unique challenges I see young people facing today.  It seems like young people are facing a crisis of isolation and loneliness.  In my interactions with young people, I have been astounded by how many of them are plagued by self-doubt.  Social media comparison, angst about achievement, and life direction paralysis are just a few of the common themes that I see causing young people to withdraw into isolation.

I am passionate about being a confidant and safe place for those who need it most.  I offer life coaching in person as well as by phone and skype/facetime for those who may be outside the Sacramento area.  In addition, I also offer coaching via text messaging for young people who need additional support throughout the week.

So what is life coaching?

So what is life coaching?  Put simply, life coaching is a tool.  It's a style of interaction that utilizes the power of questions to bring out strengths, explore options, and clarify direction and action.  It's similar to professional counseling in that it seeks to help the person being coached through conversation.  The difference in life coaching and counseling is that "counseling" (or "psychotherapy") technically falls under the category of treatment.  "Counseling" and "Psychotherapy" are medical model terms established by the medical community as billable treatment modalities for addressing emotional and relational conditions or dysfunction.

Having worked as a counselor, I discovered that I prefer the flexibility and engagement style of coaching better. Don't get me wrong, there is certainly a place for professional counseling, and it has great value for many.  But I find that coaching is the best it for me, as it allows me the opportunity to bring my true self to the helping process.  I have also found that many young people feel less comfortable in an office setting where it can feel stuffy and unnatural.  The beauty of life coaching is that it can take place over the phone, on a walking trail, in a coffee shop, or even by text message.

If you would like to explore coaching with me, please contact me for a FREE 20 minute phone consultation.  I'd be honored to work with you.  So let's talk!
